This 9 lb 1 oz (4.1 kg) '57 reissue Orville by Gibson Les Paul Standard Goldtop from 1992 has a "lived-in" vibe that enhances the authenticity of its look and just goes to prove, of course, that somebody loved the hell out of it. It probably won't work for a collector but a player will find that this high-quality product of Gibson's Japan operation delivers the goods at a bargain price.
It has nickel hardware and a long neck tenon, along with a Gibson USA '57 in the bridge position and what looks like a Gibson PAF that's lost its sticker in the front. Its original Kluson-type tuners have been exchanged for Grovers. Cosmetic niceties aside, this is a mechanically solid, great playing and sounding Les Paul that fully delivers on Orville by Gibson's reputation as a worthy carrier of the classic Gibson tradition.
